Event Description

Primary schoolchildren will have the opportunity to experience a day in life of a cancer researcher, to meet cancer researchers, and to do simple lab experiments. The format will involve watching a short video created specifically for this age group, after which students will be invited to don lab coats and do fun supervised science experiments. Participants will receive a workbook to record details of their experiments, and can take it home to complete some science-related puzzles, pictures and quizzes.
The event will take place in 2-hour blocks, with each block able to accommodate 20 students (preferably 6th class). The blocks will run from 9.30-11.30, 12.00-2.00, 2.30-4.30.
Advance booking is essential….to register or enquire please email annhopkins@rcsi.ie.

Event Story

This project has been kindly funded by the Health Research Board Knowledge Exchange and DIssemination Scheme (KEDS-2015-1627). The cancer researchers who will present these interactive workshops are passionate about the “fun” elements of science, and are excited to help children understand how their jobs contribute to the fight against cancer.
